It’s no surprise that Japanese cars are the best at this type of races. But there are also many other cars that can compete on the same level. Once you obtain one of these vehicles, you can start earning skill points at special drift zones.
Best Drift Cars in Forza Horizon 5
Toyota GR Supra
Price: 300,000 CR
Forza Horizon 5 offers players who wish to focus on drifting a special Formula Drift Pack DLC, which includes a brand-new car for the Forza series: the Toyota GR Supra.
This high-performance drift vehicle is heavily modified to be the best drift car in the game, adding a turbocharger, dual wastegates, valve trains, and fully reworked 3.0L engine.
Toyota GR Supra has the best handling among any rear-wheel drive car and special tires for the best results.
Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano
Price: 500,000 CR
Fiorano is the heaviest drift car in Forza Horizon 5, which is not a bad thing at all. Since it has front engine and rear transaxle, its weight distribution is mostly balanced and gives the car an almost perfect equilibrium when drifting.
Drifting in this car is pure pleasure, and you can simply buy it from the Autoshow. So, if you want a highly specialized drift car without the need to purchase the Formula Drift Pack DLC or Car Pass, then Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano would be the best choice.
Chevrolet Corvette (#777)
Price: 300,000 CR
There are about a dozen Chevrolet Corvette variants in Forza Horizon 5, but this 2013 version has been modified specifically for drifting. It loses in speed to Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano, but when it comes to handling and braking it definitely holds better.
In this case you need to try it out in the drift zone and compare their stats. If you like faster cars, then Fiorano is probably a better choice, but some players prefer accuracy, and that’s where Corvette really shines.
Toyota Supra MkIV
Price: 300,000 CR
This is the second Toyota drift car on our list, which is also the part of the Formula Drift Pack DLC, just like GR Supra.
The difference between the two cars is that Supra MkIV is much faster than GR Supra. MkIV can reach the top speed of 334 km/h or 208 m/h, while GR has the maximum speed of only 271 km/h or 168 m/h.
GR model has a better handling and thus drifting can be performed with higher precision. But with MkIV you can also take on other types of races with a high chance of winning.
Nissan 370Z
Price: 300,000 CR
What really makes this drift car stand out is the 4.0L Twin-Turbocharged V6 engine. Most players prefer cars with the V8 engines due to their speed, but V6 engines offer better handling and stability, which is essential for all drifters.
You can unlock this car by completing the “Moar Skillz!” accolade, or simply buy it from the Autoshow.
Toyota Corolla Hatchback
Price: 300,000 CR
Toyota Corolla falls somewhere in between the Supra MkIV and GR Supra models. It is the third Toyota drift car that is a part of the Formula Drift Pack DLC.
If you can’t choose between the other two Toyota vehicles for drifting, then pick this one up, as it has both speed and handling well balanced due to the use of 2.7L Turbocharged I4 engine that is typically used in Ferrari cars.
BMW M2
Price: 300,000 CR
There are two versions of BMW M2 in Forza Horizon 5: the coupe variant and the drift variant. Both can be used for drifting as both are rear-wheel drive vehicles, but the drift version can be acquired only through Car Pass or Formula Drift Pack.
The coupe variant is based on the 3.0L Twin-Turbocharged I6 engine, while the drift variant uses the 6.2L Naturally-Aspirated V8 (LS7), which is twice as powerful. But you can always purchase the coupe version for 60K credits and upgrade it, if you can’t buy the DLC.
DeBerti Toyota Tacoma TRD
Price: 500,000 CR
Here is the first and the only drift pickup truck on our list. It is called DeBerti after the name of the author of the car’s design, and it is quite a vehicle.
It is equipped with the NASCAR V8 engine and it can easily compete with other drift cars with lesser weight.
The reason why you should consider Tacoma TRD for your drifting races is that you can perform much better on offroad drift zones than any other coupe model.
Chevrolet Corvette Z06
Price: 300,000 CR
Currently, there are three variants of Chevrolet Corvette Z06 in Forza Horizon 5: the 2002 sports car, the 2015 front-engine supercar, and the 2017 high-performance drift car.
The 2002 version is good but it is better to get the 2015 variant, which is significantly improved, while the 2017 version requires a DLC.
But all three cars are very much capable of getting the drifting right, as all of them are rear-wheel drive cars.
Ford Mustang RTR
Price: 500,000 CR
There are many different versions of Ford Mustang as well. The GT variant is mostly a sports car made for racing, while the RTR model does especially well in the drifts.
The original RTR is a better pick than the RTR Spec 5, which is cheaper to buy, but you also get a downgraded version of the V8 engine with it. The RTR drift variant will cost you 500K, but you get a complete pre-tuned package for drifting right off the Autoshow.
Mazda RX-8
Price: 300,000 CR
Mazda drift vehicle, which is included in the Formula Drift Pack, has a special 2.0L Turbocharged 3-Rotor Rotary engine, which is boosted by the Nitrous Express system capable of giving the car a shot of nitrous. This gives a short but effective boost of extra 70 horsepowers to the 1000 BHP engine.
If you don’t want to buy the DLC, then you can pick the Mazda RX-8 R3 model, which is a lot cheaper and has a rear-wheel drive suitable for drifting.
Dodge Viper SRT10
Price: 300,000 CR
The original 2003 Dodge Viper SRT10 from Forza Horizon 4 was not included in the fifth installment of the game. Instead the developer added the 2008 SRT ACR variant and the pre-tuned 2006 drift version, which can be obtained by completing the “Drift Royalty” accolade.
Both cars perform really well, but the 2006 variant has the Twin-Turbocharged V10 engine, which is more powerful than the Naturally-Aspirated version of the ACR model.
Nissan 240SX
Price: 300,000 CR
Here is another Japanese car that comes in two different variants: the 1993 SE variant and the 1997 pre-tuned drift version.
The SE version costs only 25K, but it is already proclaimed as the “symbol of the power of the drift movement”. On the other hand, the 1997 variant can be earned by completing the “Plot Thickens” accolade, which will cost you nothing if done right. Of course, the 1997 drift version is superior to SE.
